7 ways to get more Instagram followers in just one week

Finding new followers on Instagram is one of the hardest things to do, but is also one of the most wanted. Having a high followers count is not as important as good engagement rates, but it still makes a huge difference to the success of your account on the platform.

So, whether you just want to reach more people with your own product or blog, or are trying to become an influencer on Instagram, follow these steps and you’ll see a big boost in followers in just one week.

1. Optimise your profile

The first thing you need to pay attention is your profile. If this isn’t optimised, then you’ll be giving the wrong impression to anyone who takes a look. A lot of people like to look into someone’s profile before they choose to follow them, so you could end up losing out on a lot of followers by overlooking this step.

Make sure that your username is simple, your profile picture is clear, and your bio is engaging, and you’ll be on the right track. You also want to make sure to select highlights from your stories to feature on your profile to help show a bit more personality. And if you’re not already using stories for your brand - get to it!

2. Engage with your hashtags

Simply using hashtags on your posts is not enough if you’re serious about growing your Instagram. You need to be engaging with others that are using them as well. As soon as you post an image using your chosen hashtags, click on one and start engaging with the other posts that come up.

Leave meaningful comments on their posts of more than three words that show you’ve read their caption and paid attention to what they’re posting. Just leaving a random comment or a handful of emojis won’t benefit anyone, and will make your account look spammy in the process too.

3. Use your analytics

Having a business account means you also have access to the platform’s inbuilt analytics. These can help you to effectively target your content in a way that will bring you the best results possible. Knowing who is responding to which content best will help you to make sure that every image you post will help to bring in more followers.

If you want to see quick growth, then you need to paying attention to these details. If you have a post that doesn’t perform well, you’ll be able to see what happened here and make sure to change tactics for next time. The same goes for any posts you have that perform well.

4. Post to your stories

Stories are one of the most effective tools you can use to help grow your account quickly - especially if you use them right. They can boost your engagement levels, attract new followers, and expand your reach. They make your account more personal and give your followers a behind-the-scenes look at your content.

If you include locations and hashtags in your stories as well, you’re going to be attracting new people through hashtag searches and the explore page.

5. Keep a running theme

You want your content to be instantly recognisable when people come across it online, and one way to do this is by keeping a running theme across all your posts. There are a number of ways you can do this - using a particular colour in all your pictures, using the same filter on all your images, always including the same subject etc.

You can keep this theme running through your stories as well; it’s even more important to be recognisable here as people go through so many in a row - you need to stand out. If your stories match your feed content, then people will know exactly who is posting the second they see them.

6. Create amazing captions

Even though it’s your images that will attract people to your account initially, pairing them with amazing captions is the best way to keep those people around. You want your captions to add to and continue the story that is being told in your images. Don’t make them too long, but don’t limit yourself to just a few words either.

You need to make sure to include a call to action in there as well, preferably right at the start. This way, when Instagram cuts off your caption with their “see more” button, the important stuff stays visible no matter what.

This is also where you need to include your hashtags. When you’re trying to grow your account as quickly as possible, you want to include as many of the 30 allowed hashtags as you can - as long as they stay relevant. Which brings us on to the next point…

7. Select your hashtags carefully

You only have 30 hashtags to play around with in your caption, so you need to make sure to select them carefully. You need to tailor the hashtags you choose to your following size as well. Using #travel when you only have 1,000 followers isn’t going to do you any favours as your image will soon get swallowed up by the larger accounts.

Instead, spend some time researching some smaller hashtags that are more likely to bring you engagement and targeted followers. When you click on a hashtag, you can see how many posts there are on that particular hashtag. Anything with more than 1 million posts is only useful for bigger accounts. While you're trying to grow, go for something smaller.

One thing you need to bear in mind is that growing your following on Instagram is not always a quick process. It can take a lot of time and effort to grow quickly, but you can do it if you follow these tips!
